Book Review: Bitter is the New Black

So I just read Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster and I really enjoyed it. I was a little worried about not liking this because it came so highly recommended and I had waited for it for almost 2.5 months because there were so many people ahead of me on the library hold list. My cousin Heather had told me that I would love this and that I would be convinced Jen was a member our family (our very crazy family). And you know what, I'm totally convinced she is. The way she talks, the things she does, the thoughts she has... yep, totally related to me.

It took a little bit for me to get into the book, like about 30 pages maybe before it totally sucked me in. Once I got into it though I didn't want to put it down. I thought it was a fun, interesting read that really did bring up some good points (especially when she was getting emails from people in the same situation as her).

The only problem I had with this book is that she goes through what is one of my worst nightmares, so there were a few times I felt a tinge panicky, but that passed quickly because the book was just too funny to stay in my own thoughts for long.

I totally recommend this book to anyone (and following Jen on Twitter, she's freaking hilarious there, and reading her web site). I already requested the next book (Bright Lights, Big Ass) from the library, and luckily this one doesn't have a giant wait list, yay!

  2. Ok, so I'm almost done with this book and I really like it. I too fear this happening with all the state's budget woes. I absolutely LOVE this woman's sense of humor! She could totally be a Crow or Ferguson!
