Book Review - Once Upon a Bad Boy

From Goodreads: NEVER SAY NEVER
Sadie Gold is ready to take her career to the next level with the role of a lifetime. Finally, she can shake her reputation as a pretty face with more wealth and connections than talent. But Sadie is not prepared for the wild turn her own life is about to take. The man in charge of training Sadie for her most demanding role yet is none other than her first real boyfriend—the one who took her heart and ran away.

WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE
Bo Ibarra is as good-looking and irresistible as ever. Maybe even more so, now that everything once worked against them—Sadie’s pampered and privileged upbringing and Bo’s childhood in a family struggling to make ends meet—is in the past. But the future is still unwritten…and getting there, together, means coming clean about painful secrets and slashing through nasty tabloid rumors while trying to control the attraction that crackles between them. Maybe it’s finally time for them to walk off into the sunset and into a true and lasting love?

From Goodreads

My Thoughts: This is so good. The characters are well-thought out, intricate, and manage to both grow and still stay true to themselves. The story line is fantastic and had twists I did not see coming at first, which is great! I loved how the characters from the previous books were woven into this story in such a natural way, it never felt like "hey, remember these people!!" This is such a fun, enjoyable, relatable book - which is really saying something considering the careers of the two main characters!

Book Review - Smitten by the Brit

From Goodreads: DEFINITELY, MAYBE...OR LOVE, ACTUALLY?

English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene—and quickens Bonnie's heart.

With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer—conveniently close to Theo—she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she's falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo's life makes Bonnie feel like she's wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?

 From Goodreads

My Thoughts: I really loved this. Bonnie and Theo are such great characters who really compliment each other well. And as a fellow Austen lover I adore that Theo is such a great British gent toward Bonnie, and that she has a chance to live out some of her book-related dreams.

This book is super fun and I could not put it down. Highly recommend this!

Book Review - Getting Hot with the Scot

From Goodreads: IT’S TIME TO FLIRT WITH A MAN IN A KILT

Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . .

Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?

 Source : Goodreads

My thoughts:This was very fun.

Cassie Crow is a straight-laced, driven woman in her normal life who decides that her souvenir from an epic European vacation will be a hot one night stand with a European stranger. Logan Reid is a prank pulling internet sensation looking for legitimacy in the form of a show on the more traditional media standby - television, he just needs one more good gag to seal the deal. When Cassie wanders into Logan's elaborate set up they both end up getting more than the bargained for, but can they handle things when the vacation is over and the cameras are put away?

This was an enjoyable read. I love a well-written Scot and Logan does not disappoint. I thought I might not like him when he first showed up, but he quickly won me over. Cassie is fun and I enjoyed watching her change from Vacation Cassie into a new version of herself when she went back to Regular Cassie, thanks to the experience of her trip and her time with Logan.

I definitely recommend this one.

Book Review - You'd Be Mine

From Goodreads: Annie Mathers is America’s sweetheart and heir to a country music legacy full of all the things her Gran warned her about. Superstar Clay Coolidge is most definitely going to end up one of those things.

But unfortunately for Clay, if he can’t convince Annie to join his summer tour, his music label is going to drop him. That’s what happens when your bad boy image turns into bad boy reality. Annie has been avoiding the spotlight after her parents’ tragic death, except on her skyrocketing YouTube channel. Clay’s label wants to land Annie, and Clay has to make it happen.

Swayed by Clay’s undeniable charm and good looks, Annie and her band agree to join the tour. From the start fans want them to be more than just tour mates, and Annie and Clay can’t help but wonder if the fans are right. But if there’s one part of fame Annie wants nothing to do with, it’s a high-profile relationship. She had a front row seat to her parents’ volatile marriage and isn’t interested in repeating history. If only she could convince her heart that Clay, with his painful past and head over heels inducing tenor, isn’t worth the risk.

My thoughts: I loved this book so much. It felt like my face was melting from smiling so much while reading it. I teared up a few times too (sometimes I teared up *while* smiling). This book is just amazing.

Annie is such an amazing character. Smart, opinionated, talented, loyal to her friends and herself, and genuine. I loved her immediately and rooted for her till the very end. She's amazing.

Clay is so layered (Shrek and Donkey would say he's like an onion) and well-written you can't help but want to know everything about him.

The side characters are perfectly written, the story is perfection, and the references to music will make you want to put on your boots and your best summer dress and go find some good music.

One last thing, can we just acknowledge this gorgeous, fun cover? It just fits the story so perfectly. Plus, I'm on a mission to find a dress like this one.

I received an advanced copy of this from Netgalley but all opinions are my own. In fact, I loved this so much I've pre-ordered a copy to add to my shelves and re-read whenever my heart desires.

Book Review - Daisy Jones and the Six

From Goodreads - Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

My Thoughts - I almost held off on reading this one because I was afraid it was *too* hyped and my expectations might be *too* high. But then I read about the Fleetwood Mac inspiration and I knew I had to read it ASAP. I'm so glad I did. This book is amazing. I couldn't stop thinking about it every time I was forced to put the book down.

All of the characters in this are so great - detailed, engaging, and people you can't get enough of. Billy and Daisy are obviously the main focus, but I adored Karen and Camila just as much. You really feel like you're in the room, on the stage, sitting in the studio with all of them and it's so much fun to take all of their stories and put them together to see how everyone saw the same event differently.

The way the songs are described made me wish there was an accompanying soundtrack. The lines that you get scattered throughout the book will have you running to look up Fleetwood Mac songs just to soothe the need for some classic 70s rock.

I wasn't sure I'd like this type of format, since I've never read anything like it, but after a few pages it felt pretty natural and I was able to really get into the story.

I can't recommend this one enough. Pick it up now.
